WTN: Two New Eberle Reds.....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Jul 27, 2026 2:27 pm

We tasted these two new Eberle Reds at our Pig+Fig tasting last week:
1. Eberle Zin PasoRobles (14.5%; 55% FossilCreek Ranch/45% Triple W Ranch) 2024: Med.dark color; fairly strong vanilla/Am.oak some spicy/Zin/raspberry rather pleasant nose; soft lightly spicy/Zin/raspberry some vanilla/oak rather simple pleasant flavor w/ light tannins; a rather pleasant oak/fruity Zin but on the simple side and not particularly PR/jammy. $40.00

2. Eberle Barbera (14%; 80% BootjackVnyd/20% Steinbeck Vnyd) 2023: Dark color; some vanilla/Am.oak bit dried Italian herbs/spicy/barbera somewhat interesting nose; fairly spicy/Italian herbs/Barbera light An.oak/flavor w/ modet tangy tannins; a pleasant lightweight Barbera but just that; shows more varietal character than the Zin. $48.00

More stittlefrick from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. These were two pleasant/pretty reds but a bit on the lightweight side. Not worth the price I'd have to say.I used to really like Gary's Zin & Barbara. The Zin came from the Richard Sauret vnyd on upper westside. The Barbera came from the Norman vnyd in the WillowCreek area od WestSide Paso. They had a lot more oomph to them than these two reds. Both pleasant enough & varietally-correct wines, but I'd have liked just a bit more extract & oomph to them. Just a bit too quotidian for my taste.
