1983 Château Rieussec Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend
My wine, a 375. Dark brownish color of weak black coffee, mouthcoating, nutty, dried apricots and honeysuckle. B+
2021 WeatherEye Vineyards Hillfighter White Blend Red Mountain White Rhone Blend
Rich, unctious, viscuous. It had fans--or were they just being kind--but was too much for me. C
2016 Château Couhins Blanc Pessac-Léognan Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend
Tim's wine. He loves it; I don't. Merely okay for me with suffocating acidity and little fruit. C
2022 Kobayashi Winery Viognier WeatherEye Vineyard Red Mountain
Not a viognier fan but winemaker Travis' magic is evident. A
2023 Maryhill Roussanne Proprietor's Reserve McKinley Springs Vineyard Horse Heaven Hills
Mine, and very different from a bottle opened two weeks ago. Fresher/younger than previous, lighter color too, and on the palate exotic with white peach, white pepper, plantain and light spearmint. DS volunteered that this was his WOTN so far (it was the 22nd wine presented).
2022 Golden Cluster Sémillon Coury Old Vine Willamette Valley
Different in a really good way. Second time I've had this and it hasn't stopped being impressive. American pure semillons aren't usually this good/classy. A
2024 Abbazia di Novacella Valle Isarco / Eisacktaler Kloster Neustift Kerner
Excellent! Fresh with flavors of spring meadow and baby yellow corn. A
2016 Domaine de la Touraize Arbois Terres Bleues Savagnin
Funky, skunky, Heinekken nose, parched mouthfeel. D
2015 Bodegas Zugober (Belezos) Rioja Blanco Viura, Macabeo
Mustard seed and salinity, but too oxidized for my tastes. D
2017 Suavia Soave Classico Superiore Monte Carbonare Garganega
Bright, kaleidoscopic aromas with good weight. A very serious Soave. Best wine of the tasting so far. A.
2010 Famille Peillot Altesse Roussette du Bugey Montagnieu
Oxidated but not entirely gone: caramel and sunshine, sunflowers and alpine meadows.
2024 Prospice Viognier Gamache Vineyard Columbia Valley
Quoting another CT note: It’s a viognier that drinks like a crispy sauv blanc. Tropical, but cool and mineral driven with no flab. Loved it!!!
2023 Alheit Vineyards Fire by Night Olifants River Chenin Blanc
My wine, a high-priced chenin I bought for a So Africa tasting and never opened. Nondescript and very disappointing. For $80ish I was expecting Sadie-like material, but I've had better at $20.
2016 Domaine Luneau-Papin Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine "L" d'Or Granite Melon de Bourgogne
I liked this in 2019 but it's done now: heavy/old, nutty/cheesy, tastes like bruised fruit.
2022 Sellas Winery Assyrtiko Eternal Peloponnese
Citrus and stone fruit, flinty/smokey. Only 12% abv, hurray. Very good. B+
2023 Vignobles Marie Maria Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Sec Novel White Blend
A 70/30 blend of Gros and Petit Manseng. Vibrant fruit, zippy. B+
2021 The Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Gris Estate Dundee Hills
Def some oak here; vanilla bean and praline finish. Does not taste of the grape. C.
2021 Domaine Huet Vouvray Sec Le Mont Chenin Blanc
Seriously oxidized. Did Huet have a problem in this vintage? F.
2024 Montenidoli Vinbrusco Toscana IGT Trebbiano Blend, Trebbiano
Durable, interesting/pleasant, ugly label. Didn't show a lot and it probably needed time/decanting. B.
2014 Matteo Correggia Roero Arneis La Val Dei Preti
Gorgeous floral nose with white peach and minerals on the palate. Totally youthful at 12 yrs old; so impressive. A.
2023 Constant Crush Wine Limited Addition Arneis Aurora Vineyard Chehalem Mountains
My wine. Lemon, pippin apple and bay leaf with good texture and acidity. One of the few American Arneis I've tasted that has character. B
2014 Lunarossa Quartara Colli di Salerno IGT Fiano
Served blind. Dark yellow color and oxidized flavor reminds me of Jura Vin Jaune, but it's Fiano. Not a grape I like anyway, and it's time is up. D
2023 Can Sumoi Garnatxa Blanca Penedès
Served blind, and very similar to the Xarelho served before but drier. Most of us preferred this of the two. C+
2023 Can Sumoi Xarello Penedès
Served blind. Similar to the green apple tones in some Sauv Blancs but not quite, and lightly stemmy. Refreshing. C+
