It was unpleasantly hot in Lyon and I wanted to avoid typical Lyonnais food, which tends toward the heavier. I went to a newly opened "bar a vins" in the 6eme, and was blown away. The by-the-glass Muscadet was Luneau Papin. The sparklers were a quality Bugey white (Franck Peillot) and Jacquesson. Truly amazing. Really wish I had been in the mood for reds. Super friendly vibe, one server lived in the US and speaks near-native English. Tons of locals. Can't recommend Granit highly enough.

If you do want that hearty bouchon, I had a lovely meal at La Cabaratier in Pres'que Ile. Foie gras and dry-cured duck salad for the entree, and a stunning fish quenelle for the main. The latter was served molten hot, super light texture, fresh morels were an inspired addition. Wine is well chosen and downright cheap, but in crappy glassware. Still, right in the center of the tourist area and excellent. Huge portions, though.
