- 2001 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Schloßberg Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Rheingau (5/24/2026)
From my late father’s cellar (well…really from mine since I bought it and shared a few bottles with him) this showed exceptionally well, with still lively peachy fruit, a honeyed edge, and bright acidity. Not the most complex aged Riesling, but definitely delicious.

I can see that, though the Roseneck Spätlese (sadly no longer made) took things up several notches. Same for the Rottland dry wine.
