Shared this w/ Susan last night:
1. Clos Poncins AC: Condrieu (15%; SarantyImprts/Stamford/CT) Dom.Chirat/St.Joseph/Cote-Rotie 2019: Med.dark gold color; rather earthy/chalky very slight Viog/floral/pear light mineral/metallic very slight Condrieu/mineral some interesting slightly oxidized nose; rather soft/lush somewhat coarse/earthy/chalky lightly floral/pear/Viognier/Condrieu rather rustic/coarse/metallic slight oxidative flavor; med.long earthy/rough/dusty/coarse slight Condrieu finish that tracks flavor; a rather earthy/coarse expression of Condrieu with precious little Viognier fruit; lacks the high-toned minerality/Viognier of good Condrieu; pretty dull stuff & grossly overpriced. $85.00 (TW)

More bottumfeed from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Was out in that area Sat morning, so stopped into TotalWine to do some bottom feeding. I detest TotalWines & only make the trip out there about every other month. Their prices are not at all competitive w/ our other local stores. They have a lot of crap on their shelves under made-up producer names. Mostly all imported by their exclusive importer, Saranty Imports, who buys a lot of bulk wine & then bottles it under a made-up name. Here in NM, they operate on the ragged edge of legality, but nobody has turned them into the NM ABC bureau.....yet.
This purchase was hardly what you would call bottom-feeding. But I just wanted to see if they could deliver the goods if the price was no barrier. Alas...I've learned my lesson. This wine was extraordinarily over-priced.
