Tried this wine last weekend:
1. Ijalba Maturana Blanca Dd'OC: Rioja (13.5%; Winewise/Benicia) Vina Ijalba/Logrono/Espana 2023: Med.light gold color; fairly stony/earthy/chalky slight floral/dandelions bit minerally rather simple/uninteresting nose; quite tart/tangy very chalky/stony/earthy slight floral/dandelions bit savory/briney singularly uninteresting flavor; med. stony/chalky/earthy finish that tracks flavor; a bit like a Burg Aligote; quite an uninteresting white & way overpriced at $39.00 (KK)

More sicklesell from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. This is a wine made from the very rare Maturana Blanca grape, which was rescued from near extinction by this producer. It is one of the oldest grapes in the Rioja, first mentioned in 1622. It may be a light-skined version of Trosseau. It is regarded as an inferior grape in Rioja. Not a variety that seems worth pursuing.
