Strip steaks with a parsley/watercress salad with a caper/horseradish dressing (inspired by Paul’s parsley thread)
2024 Extradimensional Evangelho Mourvedre
Crunchy red fruits, bright acids, quite floral;. Enough tannin to make it a good steak wine, delicious wine if you aren’t looking for Bandol. B+/A-

Wednesday was shrimp tacos with the 2023 von Winning estate Riesling trocken. Ripe peach, melon, a touch of chalk on finish, moderate acids, certainly drinkable but no reason to go looking for this one . B-

Thursday pork tenderloin, potatoes, grilled endive, and salad
2022 Guion “Candide” Bourgeuil
Tangy raspberry and cranberry, mushrooms and chipotle, refreshing finish. B+/B

Miso leeks and cannelli beans, salad, and the
NV Guion Methode Traditionelle Rose
Cherry, watermelon and bubble gum, bright bubbles, gets a bit herbal with air, nice uncomplicated wine. B-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was the only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Can't wait to try that Mourvedre. The first Mourvedre I ever fell in love with (by Joseph Swan) could have been described that way and I haven't met another since that rang the bell for me in the same way.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Hardy Wallace's touch with the Mourvedre fruit from the Evangelho vineyard is a latter-day legend. First with Dirty & Rowdy and now with EWCY! he's produced these amazingly drinkable, red-fruited bottlings. We also were quite smitten with the Mind Left Body Mourvedre (a blend) that he put out a couple of years ago.
