by TomHill » Mon Apr 13, 2026 1:58 pm

Had these three whites over the last few days:
1. LaMiraja Cuore di Luna Chard (13%; The Piedmonte Guy/Shafer/MN) LaMiraja/Castagnole Monferrato/Piemonte 2024: Light yellow color; very pure Chard/melony/almondy/bit floral clean/spicy/mineral slight stony very lovely nose; fairly tart/tangy strong minerally/spicy/Chard/melony/honeydew melon/bit appley clean/brisk very pure Chard varietal slight metallic some complex flavor; very long/lingering pure Chard finish that mocks flavor; loads of pure Chard fruit w/ nice minerality; one of the purest Italian Chards I've ever had; quite a lovely/pure Chard at a very fair price. $25.00 (SFW&S)

More grickleferq from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I recently had a (non-Barolo) Chinato from this producer that I really liked. One of the better Chinatos I can recall. They make a whole range of other varietals from Piemontese grapes. They appear to be quite highly regarded. So I saw this Chard on the shelf & thought it might be worth trying, though I'm often left underwhelmed by Italian Chard. Not in this case. One of the most pure varietal Chards from Italy I've ever had.
Romantarin is a sibling of Chard and Aligote. It was once much widely planted in the Loire, but now found only in the Cour-Cheverny AC. So this is a rather rare wine but fairly impressive for a Loire.
I was quite taken by the Spreitzer R. Not had many of his wines but this one was very impressive,
Tom
