2008 Black Hills Estate Nota Bene - this wine is a B.C. made Bordeaux blend of cab, cab franc and merlot, but it resembles a California wine more that a French one, in terms of body and 'size'. French oak is used and the wine comes in at 14.5% alcohol. Well balanced, good fruit levels but not overly sweet, just a fairly big well made wine. Bought at the winery on release, I have sampled it evert few years and this is the first one I'd say had hit the sweet spot.

Interesting. I would never think to wait that long.

FYI, I found the bottle of Black Hills wine in my dad’s cellar. It’s actually a 2019 Per Se, rather than a Nota Bene.

That could be interesting. That is their 100% Cab Franc. It should be in good shape - be sure to post a note when you open it! The winery was started by a very skilled winemaker, Senka Tennant and they made big reds. She and her husband sold the winery and started Terravista and did a change-up and made mostly white wines (they did do one Syrah which I bought faithfully each vintage).

They sold the winery (to nice people who have a good winemaker - I keep in touch and buy every year from them) and moved on although I understand that she still consults occasionally.
