WTN: And the winner is...?

by Jenise » Tue Mar 17, 2026 12:20 pm

Took these two to my brother's house for tacos and the Oscars:

2022 Livio Felluga Friuli Colli Orientali Friulano
This made me pause to wonder what I would guess had someone served this to me blind. I'd have probably gone to Alsace but not been able to nail the grape. It drinks like a chenin-gewurz blend (not that such a thing exists). Upfront it displays floral/nutmeg/ginger spice followed by a waxy mouthfeel and mildly cloying RS finish. My brother who likes 'sweet' and ginger-spiciness more than I do LOVED it--but I couldn't take a second glass.

2023 Navarro Vineyards Chardonnay Mendocino
What a relief to have this next. My first bottle of a case delivered last week. (Fie on the low CT points--who are these people?) This is a chardonnay for people who know that bigger isn't better, and who instead admire/crave/need pure, clean flavors like green apple and meyer lemon with multi-faceted acidity/complexity and modest alcohol. I ordered another case yesterday--this is the white wine I'll need all summer long. And next summer too--these wines age so well. Currently half price ($16) with .01 shipping, winery-direct.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
