WTN: Drew Syrah PerliVnyd '23.....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Sun Mar 15, 2026 4:43 pm

We tried this new Drew Syrah at our tasting at Laura's Pig+Fig this last week:
1. Drew Syrah PerliVnyds/MendoRidge (13.7%; www.DrewWines.com; McDowell Field Slctn: Planted in 1902 on McDowell Ranch, Grafted onto PerliVnyd; Drk: 2026-2039: JD) Elk 2023: Rather dark color; strong rather spicy/Syrah/blackberry light toasty/Fr.oak attractive straight-forward Syrah quite spicy nose; lightly tart rather spicy/Syrah/blackberry/blueberry straightforward Syrah flavor w/ modest brisk tannins; very long/lingering very spicy finish that tracks flavor; quite an attractive straightforward Syrah speaks of MendoRidge; needs a few yrs yet. $55.00/$46.75 (DWC)

More sickerflic from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I like the Drew Pinots & Syrahs quite a lot. The Syrahs seldom rise into the profound level but they're nice/solid expressions of MendoRidge Syrah, from the Perli and Valenti vnyds usually.
