I might bite on the Santenay Clos de Malte, usually a good wine.
Often the Gagey wines are quite good, you know its domaine, but haven't had any recent vintages of these.
The original prices look quite high to me. I'd call these possibly good sale prices, but not crazy deals.

Pretty much what I thought, Dale. We don't see a lot of Burgundy around here so I don't have a good sense of what things go for these days. Some of the Jadots I'd like to see aren't on this list, and I'd lean into 20 over 21. Other than that, I had no instant opinions.

Jenise, I haven't tasted new Burgs heavily in last several years, but actually personally would lean more toward the more floral 2021s than the quite ripe 2020s (though both can be quite good).

Yes, I think '21s have lower octane and greater food-friendliness from what I've tasted.

Really? Jancis Robinson's assessment of those two vintages were other way 'round. '21s being lighter and "drink now" she said.
It's the Volnay that tempts me the most.

I think that is what the others are saying. '21 is lighter and lower alcohol, while '20 is a very ripe year, some brutal high alcohol wines. That is the general distinction and Mark/Dale/myself might prefer '21, but tastes vary and others prefer '20. "Drink now" is probably an over generalization, I'm sure plenty of '21 wines will age for a while. But '20 is a lot denser and probably needs more time, in general.

Oh, I understood the distinctions. And put that way I'd probably prefer the more delicate '21s as well, But not having kept track of anything Burgundy since maybe '18 I went hunting for some vintage generalizations and Jancis' is what I found (it's on the internet, I'm not a subscriber). The difference in perspectives was interesting.

Yeah, it's really a matter of preference and also for how you consume your wine. I consume wine almost exclusively with a meal as I suspect most on this board do (and for me that meal is almost exclusively dinner) so I place a high premium on food-friendliness. Others might appreciate wine more as an aperitif, and in that instance the lower acidity of a year like '20 might make for better drinking.

For me, it's before-and-with. I often sip on something while cooking...but what a dumb thing for me to say. Truth is I used to be that person, and Jenise 2.0 is still in the design phase and more often than not doesn't have wine at all. If I do, it's a last-minute thought.
