WTN CA orange/red blend, OR PN, Cote-Rotie

2023 Extradimensional Yeah! Heart and Hummingbird.
OK, this is a weird one (85% orange wine of Chenin Blanc and Rhone white grapes, 15% Grenache red wine). But I like it! Like a slightly murky rose with tannin. Floral, with cherry Sweet Tarts and Russian Tea (not the real thing, but the black tea, Tang and clove combo of my youth).
I wouldn’t want this all the time, but a fun and different take on wine. B+/B (but a A for wackiness).

A friend was supposed to come for a lamb and Syrah dinner, but a cold got in the way and I regrouped and made sesame/soy salmon with broccoli for myself. . 2023 Kelley Fox Mirabai Pinot Noir is young, fresh, and bouncy. Red fruits (cherry and raspberry), floral, tangy mineral/ferric finish. There’s some tannic structure and could certainly age, but I find very enjoyable right now. B+

So Betsy was home and I made the rack of lamb (parmesan/panko/mustard), potatoes with ramp butter, duck fat green beans, and salad.. Wine was 2005 Burgaud Cote Rotie. Dark fruits, a hint of smoke and bacon, slightly rustic, correct but lacking excitement. B-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was the only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Fascinating note on the EDWCY wine, Dale. Would you say that it all resembled a Tiberio Cerasuolo? From your description, it sounds like it might.

That's probably the closest wine I can think of, but it did have that black tea/orange wine sensibility that the Tiberio doesn't have (I think of the Cerasuolo as more crunchy red fruit). But culinarily could work in similar situations.

One of the rare WineCo wines that I skipped. I keep trying to like Orange wines, and it’s still not happening.

I think you might actually like this wine, the orange character is there but the red wine blend mutes the more overt characteristics,
But he makes so many wines you can't buy everything!

Exactly - too many wines, and I like to reserve most of my budget for the Mourvèdre bottlings.
