Weird assortment of leftovers:Ful, broccoli, pasta Amatriciana. salad
2004 I Greppi Greppicaia (Bolgheri Superiore)(375 ml)
In this format showing its age, but some solid black fruit still there. Still a touch of tannin, peppery, but developing a bit of an ashtray note and a bit too round.. B-

Beyond burgers on pita with slaw
1997 Fonterutoli Siepi Toscana IGT
Not a fan of ‘97 Tuscany, and this shows why. Plush and roasted, almost raisiny, and the finish comes across as a bit clipped. C+

With Betsy away, I got a nice swordfish steak (she’s not a fan),and made swordfish piccata over angel hair.
2021 Day Wines “Eola Springs Vineyard” Chardonnay
My first Day.. Really quite nice, with pear, hazelnut, orange peel, and white floral elements. Full, bright acids, zesty. Very good length, balanced oak. B++

Pot roast marinated and braised in red wine (those SuperTs ended up being useful), braised cabbage
Was originally going to do Cabernet Sauvignon, but ended up opening the 2024 Coudert/Clos de Roilette Cuvee Tardive Fleurie. Maybe a bit lighter than most recent vintages (I double checked to make sure Tardive), tangy raspberry, zingy acids, slightly gritty tannin. B/B+

No wine Monday with braised guchugaru tofu, Shanghai choy.

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was the only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Maybe it’s the tariff hangover, but I haven’t seen any offers for Coudert in a while.
