- 2004 Miner Family Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville (3/18/2007)
Served with grilled rib eye steaks and grilled zucchini from the barby....spicy on the nose with hints of dark chocolate. Good line of acidity on palate with flavors that almost make one think Bordeaux (that was my wife's first guess, with this served blind). Tannins are prominent, but not in a bad way. Don't know if there are any whole clusters used in the making of the wine, but a hint of that. Dark fruit profile, good long finish. Not a fruit bomb, but lots of fruit, if that makes sense. This was outstanding with the beef. Refreshing to drink.. we even had it wiith dark chocolate after dinner and it worked with that too. Alc 14.5% LC 4.0++ (93 pts.)

Sounds great James. Good all-rounder eh. Will have to keep my eye open for this winery, any of the Four Vines wines in your area James?

Although pricier, their Oracle Bordeaux Blend is pretty nice, too.
(The Miner Family made their money from Oracle software!)

Miner is one of my favorite wineries for many reasons... some sentimental.... which makes it all the more fun...
Brian.... we are having all 3 vintages of the Oracle plus many of the Napa Cab next month at a tasting at our house... it will be fun to see how they compare....I've had the '01 a couple of times and liked it a lot... have not opened the '02 or '03 yet.,. but we will!!
Cheers, Jim

It's a very nice place. My ONLY complaint is their building has to be the least attractive new one on Silverado Trail
