We tried this Grenache at our Wino's tasting at Linda's last night:
1. SQN Ode to E Grenache 11 Confessions Vnyd/SantaRitaHills (15.5%) Elaine & Manfred Krankl/Ventura 2004:Black color w/ very slight bricking; very intense very ripe/overripe blackberry/boysenberry/Grenache/slight strawberry strong toasty/Fr.oak very Alban-like very intense blackberry/fruit nose; soft very rich/ripe/overripe boysenberry/blackberry/very Syrah-like slight Grenache/strawberry very strong toasty/charred/Fr.oak rather simple but very intense flavor w/ ample ripe tannins; very long intense boysenberry/blackberry/Grenache finish w/ ample ripe tannins; loads of overripe Grenache fruit but showing no evolution whatsoever; probably not going to ever develop much complexity and will just watch the intense fruit fade.

More Ediddle from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The SQN and Alban Grenaches are both made in much the same style. Huge/extracted fruit & very intense. Not a style that particularly appeals to me. They never seem to develop the complexity that are routinely found in a Qupe or Edmunds St.John Syrah or Grenache w/ age. But it's a style that appeals to those of intense/extracted fruit wines.
