- 2014 Dirler-Cade Gewurztraminer Kessler - France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru (1/14/2026)
Doing a little cellar reorg, and lo and behold I have one more bottle of this wine. I thought I had opened my last in the depths of the pandemic. Since I was making sweet potato and caramelized onion quesadillas I decided to chill the bottle, and see how it would work. Turns out it worked perfectly, with the classic spice and lychee elements of the Gewurztraminer cozying right up to the caramelized onions, and the modest sweetness of the wine being just enough to balance the natural sweetness of the sweet potato. It was a smile inducing pairing. The Gewurztraminer was also delicious on its own. Nowhere near getting old yet, there’s probably a solid 10 years of joyful drinking left in this wine if I end up finding another bottle somewhere!
