1999 Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno - I've been carrying out inventory control on some of my older wines lately and this one came up for review. It is an IGT wine and is basically a Bordeaux made in Tuscany - the blend of the current release is 45% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon,10% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot. We'd hit a poor bottle about a year ago so I figured a reassessment was due. This note is based on my last two bottles, tasted a few days apart.

Still showing pretty deep colour and the cassis leapt out in the nose. Plummy raspberry fruit and good length. The second bottle, tasted a few days later was better than the first, but even the first showed very decently. Interesting that a Bordeaux of that age usually seems livelier.
