- 2018 Pax Syrah Armagh Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (11/21/2025)
A wine with a soul of iron, fed with the blood of a Minotaur. It’s stern, but also contemplative, as it captures that elemental soul of Syrah, with only flashes of fruit around the edges. Blind I might have guessed St. Joseph. Needed short ribs or lamb chops from the grill to both pair with the savory flavors and tame what are still vigorous tannins. This could be glorious with enough time, but it will always be a periodic table of a wine, rather than one of fruit.

I have fond memories of some '04's I owned!
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Ooh, Pax 1.0.
He did a very interesting and revealing interview just a couple of weeks ago on the Bedrock Wine Conversations podcast. It’s well worth your time.
