No wine Thursday with lamb stew, then a l procedure Friday meant a couple of days off wine (didn’t take the Oxycodone, but acetaminophen and alcohol don’t mix)- a dal on Friday and Bolognese on Saturday.
Sunday I was ready to play again, so with oysters, bay scallops and pancetta on angel hair, roast romanesco, & salad I opened the 2016 Fichet Auxey-Duresses blanc. Lovely and in a good place, white peach with lime zest, mineral, good acids, nice freshness. Not as complex as recent Fichet Meursaults, but really nice for the village. B+
Meatless Monday was a red Thai curry with tofu and soba, wine was the 2018 Willi Schaefer Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett (#2). Fleshy but with good acids for the vintage, citrus, white flowers, slate. Maybe a bit tight but I like and it did well with the food. B
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
