WTN: Beaune Broth

by David M. Bueker » Tue Nov 18, 2025 11:47 am

  • 2002 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (11/17/2025)
Wow - 13 years since the last time I had this. Back in 2012 I thought it was maturing, but fast forward, and I would be hard-pressed to find a better time to drink it than last night. Still shows a core of red fruit, but it’s the earthy, herbal, forest floor, and mineral elements surrounding that fruit that complete the picture. It’s a finished sculpture, prepared for its unveiling. No concerns about waiting longer for the aged patina to further emerge.

p.s. we had it with a chicken dish, so it’s also Fowl Play!

Subject line of the month indeed!

Jacques Lardier really hit it out of the park with the Beaune 1ers in 2002. Don't think I have had the Bressandes, but a lot have been great (and were quite affordable on release). I think I still have Boucherottes, Couchereaux, Ursules.

I don’t get it. Shouldn’t it be Daniel Beaune? Ah, phonetics.

Reminds me of a time I was out shopping for wine. I said to one of the sales clerks, "Excuse me, but I have a Beaune to pick with you." He got his own back when I bought six bottles of Auguste Clape Cornas. He said, "You don't want a case of the Clape?"
