Took to a friend's dad's house last night where it was unceremoniously plonked on the table and drunk out of mismatched jars (and I'm okay with that; in fact, kind of refreshing to go so low brow and not care).

2007 R. López de Heredia Rioja Reserva Viña Tondonia Tempranillo Blend
Showed very well in spite of the glassware. Black cherry, dust, antique leather, resolved tannins--all there off the bat without much coaxing. No sediment.

thanks Jenise. Should dig one out. Last tried 2020, seemed a bit tight then (but blossomed with lots of air).
While these have gone up in price it hasn't been exponential like the GRs.

Ditto. But this one was great; hopefully representative and not bottle variation.

That rang a bell for me so I checked my cellar list. I have a magnum of the 2004 Tondonia, which I never look at as it is on top of the cellar racks. Probably a good one to remember for next summer season.
