  • 2003 Edmunds St. John Syrah Bassetti Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, San Luis Obispo County (11/15/2025)
Spur of the moment pop and pour, and this showed as still quite youthful and very powerful. Dark fruit, some solid tannins, and a distinct meaty note marked this as a Syrah with time in hand. Perhaps check back in around 2028-2030. It should do very well with some more cellar time.

That's the one that, in press, said to me: "I still won't be ready to drink when your'e dead."

CT says I have one '03 left (with 2007 purchase note " via Bill B, delivered by David B"!).
Know I have a couple of '05s as well, those are a bit more ready.

Title made me laugh, thanks.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

The only Basseti I’ve had, I believe, was the excellent 2005.

Looks like we can source a bottle of the 2003 for the princely sum of $350! https://parcellewine.com/products/edmun ... eyard-2003

Looking back through my notes, it looks like I've had the '01 and '05 Bassetti as well as the '03 Wylie-Fenaughty. Dale, if you can hang onto that bottle of '03 for another year or so, I'll try to find my way out there.

Didn’t know I was sitting on a retirement funding asset!
