- 2011 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru (11/14/2025)
Sometimes a wine transcends expectations. It’s hard for an ultra-rare or ultra-expensive wine to do that, but this one did. It flew so far above and beyond that expectations were barely visible below.
We did not decant the wine, wishing to follow the evolution over time, and how it evolved! It’s hard to describe all the various aromatic and flavor elements, but the wine was red fruit focused, with ethereal forest floor, pine bough, a touch of distant campfire, and a deep minerality/steeliness that anchored the whole. Each sniff presented a different set of aromatics, and each sip was elegant and silky, the best of what a great Burgundy can provide, even in a challenging vintage.
This one will live in memory for a long, long time.

Thanks for the tasting note. Those of us who walk across the Burgundy minefield do so in the hope of finding wines like this.

It’s pretty easy to survive the minefield. I only step where it says “producer, producer, producer.”

Yeah, that was really special. Thank you again for bringing that. Truly amazing.

Producer trumps vintage once again (though in reality I'm finding many '11s give some current pleasure). Love Meo.
