Tried this wine at Beef&Leaf Thursday w/ friends at DinDin:
1. Matteo Ascheri Dd'OC: Verduno Pelaverga Piedmonte RW (13%) Matteo Ascheri/Bra 2024: Light almost rose color; very fragrant strawberry/Pela slight earthy/metallic lightly spicy quite pretty nose; lightly tart rather earthy/Pela/strawberry lightish simple/pretty flavor w/ some tannic bite; med.long strawberry/cherry finish that tracks flavor; nothing complex or profound but just a very pretty/easy-drinking red w/ lots of pretty fruit & zest. $27.00 (AV)

More stiberflot from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Pelaverga is a very rare grape native to the Piemonte, whose last redoubt is Verduno Pelaverga and Colline Saluzzesi DOCs of Piedmont's Cuneo province. The plantings of Pelaverga are dropping and it may not be with us much longer. A bit pricey for just another pretty face.

I'm a big fan of Pelaverga. Burlotto makes a very good one, as does Castello di Verduno. My only complaint is that alcohol levels have been creeping up. The '18 Burlotto was 14.5% ABV.
