WTN: Colombera&Garella Nebbiolo AltoPiemonte NV...(short/bor

Tried this new wine last night:
1. Colombera & Garella Melascone VinoRosso Alto Piemontese (12.5%; Nebbiolo; PortoVino/Buffalo/NY) Masserano NV: Fairly dark color for Nebb; fairly strog Nebb/floral/lilacs/violets almost blackberry/plummy/Mourv-like slight tarry/earthy light pencilly/oak pretty intense/big nose; fairly tart/tangy/acidic strong floral/Nebb/lilacs/violets/plummy some earthy/tarry/pungent light pencilly/oak fairly intense flavor w/ some rich/chewey tannins; very long/lingering floral/lilacs/pungent finish that tracks flavor; speaks strongly of Nebb but not the high-toned/fragrant character of B/B; pretty big & rich for a Piemonte Nebb; almost like a WashState Nebb; terrific price for Piemonte Nebb. $26.00 (KK)

More gerzelebick from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. This was a new producer for me in the Costa della Sesia. This is 65% Nebb/20% Croatina/15% Vespolina; which explains the dark color & intensity, though the wine definitely speaks of Nebbiolo. It is also a natural wine, but shows no natty character whatsoever. A great value in Nebbiolo.

Cristiano Garella is a superstar in the Alto Piemonte. He was the guy responsible (at age 16) for the incredible Lessonas of Sella back in the turn of the century (the 2001 Sella Lessona Sebastiano Allo Zoppo ranks as one of the best bottles of Nebbiolo I've ever had) before leaving to start his own operation. He's also the consulting winemaker at a few other places IIRC. I adore every wine I've had from Colombera&Garella.

I didnt know about the 16 year old winemaker, but loved the Sellas of that era. Had a great 2001 regular Lessona last year (and CT says I have one, but think likely consumed and not recorded). Will look for C&G, who I don't know

If I can find a way out to NYC in the next year or two, I'll bring one along (that list is growing daily, it seems) for you.
