WTN: Aeris Etna Bianco Carricante '14....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Oct 13, 2025 12:51 pm

Wanted a white last night so I cracked:
1. Aeris Etna Bianco Superiore Carricante (12.2%; RhysVnyds/LosGatos) IlVigneri Ragusa 2014: Dark gold color; strong honeyed/orangey quite floral/gardenias/orange blossoms very fragrant slight stoney lovely nose; quite tart/tangey some stony/flinty/metallic/mineral some orangey/floral/orange blossom rather honeyed/rich/mineral some complex lovely flavor; very long/lingering floral/mineral finish that tracks flavor; beautiful fragrant character w/ nice balance between ripe fruit & minerality; a beautiful complex expression of Etna Carricante. $70.00

More eggerflick from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. This is, of course, the wine of Kevin Harvey of Rhys Vnyds. He visited Sicily & fell in love w/ the Carricante grape and partnered w/ Ragusa to get it imported into this country under his Aeris label. He has also planted Carricante at his Centennial Vnyd up in MendoCnty.
This was one of the most beautiful expressions of Carricante I can recall. No reason it shouldn't go another 3-6 yrs I would guess. A bit expensive for an EtnaBianco but that's what the Aeris wines are.

$70? It was $40 or $45 when it first came out.

Is that a re-release?

That's probably what I paid for it, David. But recent prices have it at $70 so I went with that.
