WTN: Two New Delmore Reds....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Thu Oct 09, 2025 1:34 pm

We tried these two new Delmore reds at our Pig+Fig tasting last night:
1. Delmore PinotNoir SCMtns (13.4%; Wild Frmtd) PasoRobles 2024: Med.color; quite fragrant floral/cherry/violets light dusty/OV light pencilly/oak pleasant not very intense nose; lightly tart delicate/understated cherry/PN some earthy/dusty bit classic SCM PN light pencilly/Fr.oak bit simple flavor w/ light delicate tannins; med.long light cherry finish that mimics flavor; speaks quietly of SCM PN character a bit like the old Congress Springs of Dan Gehrs; a pleasant enough/lightish PN but just that. $48.60

2. Delmore Syrah SLO COast (12.5%; Wild Frmtd; www.DarrenDelmore.co)) PasoRobles 2024: Dark color;lightly c-c/peppery light blackberry/Syrah/bit spicy light pencilly/oak pleasant not very intense nose; lightly tart some blueberry/blackberry/Syrah very light c-c/peppery light pencilly/Fr.oak flavor w/ light tannins; med.long light blueberry/Syrah light blueberry/Syrah light tannic finish that tracks flavor; a pretty lightweight/delicate/almost Pinotish expression of Syrah; pleasant enough but just that. $39.00

I was rather disappointed in his Syrah, usually his strongest wine. It was pretty lightweight expression of Syrah for Darren. I'm hoping/expect it will put on weight w/ additional age.
