WTN: 2021 Chidaine Breuil Choisilles

Enjoying one of the more digestible vintages in recent memory, with 2021 Chidaine Montlouis Clos du Breuil and Les Choisilles. An interesting duo because I usually think of Clos du Breuil as the driest and raciest cuvee, but in 2021, it shows plenty of full generous fruit. There is a bitter edge that gives pungency to the flavors and bite to the structure, so maybe this will evolve in a crisp way once the babyfat continues to drop. Overall, it is extremely delicious and drinkable, much more so than 2023 Breuil, which scared me silly.

I've been following several bottles of Les Choisilles this year, and it's getting more and more linear, racy, and structured. Definitely good juicy slightly-chewy ripeness and there are layers underneath; nobody is making 'thin' wine these days. But compared to the Clos du Breuil, it is so much sleeker. Not my memory of the cuvees, but who knows.

Either way, both delicious, for different meals.
