WTN: Public Service Announcement - Two Mediocre 04 Chenin

Do not do what I have done. Unless you absolutely must. Or if you are bored.

I had relatively low expectations for the 2004 Vigneau Chevreau Vouvray Sec "Cuvee Domaine" because I only purchased it to fill out a mixed case. But, it was organic, 11.5%, and seemed to be from an ambitious producer, so, was hoping for a surprise. Not here. Crisp, sour, and tart with a slightly chalky character that reminds me of being in Touraine, but not necessarily of drinking good wine. Absolutely forgettable.

I had higher expectations for the 2004 Vincent Ogereau Savennieres Clos du Grand Beaupreau as it was supposed to be a vineyard with more nobility than any of his previous sites. But, perhaps he needs time to get the new acquisition in order, because this was relying heavily on the creamy oak with little material underneath, only slight indications of the general Anjou origins, and certainly not much to speak of what most will understand as Savennieres. Somewhat forgettable.
