- 2018 Kutch Pinot Noir Falstaff Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (9/11/2025)
This remains a relatively youthful wine. On first pouring it was deep and brooding, with the spice and chewiness of stem inclusion. I saved some for the next evening, and it opened up quite nicely, with brighter, though still dark red fruit, and a striking floral aroma that recalled gardenias. I happen to love gardenia, so it was a very pleasant surprise. Based on how it showed the first night I think I will continue to hold for a while longer, or alternatively decant for a few hours. Either way, delicious wine.
