Saturday grey sole meuniere, broccoli rabe, orange cauliflower with anchovies, corn

2017 Tiberio Trebbiano d'Abruzzo
8 year old Trebbiano? Hell yes! Apple, lemon, and lemon zest. Good acids, long finish. B+

We had invited some friends for dinner Sunday, then got invited over elsewhere, so we invited those that invited us to join our dinner (I think that makes sense). Rainy day dried up, and we had a fine night on the patio

Radishes with butter, radishes with radish leaf pesto, and peperonata on gouda/garlic bread
NV Ponson 1er Cru Champagne
Pear & nectarine, grapefruit zest, baked biscuits. Lively B/B+

Oysters, with ramp mignonette
2005 Defaix Cote de Lechet Chablis 1er
Apple, seashell, citrus with a bit of almondy nuttiness only hint to age. My guests loved, but I though finish shorter than other bottles of this I have had. B-

Rack of lamb (and some single ribs as the butcher only had 2 racks), heirloom tomato “paella”, kale, and a corn/avocado salad

1999 Felsina Fontalloro
Rich black fruit, leather, a hint of balsamic, ready to go. In a good place. B+/A-

2020 Lambert “La Montee des Roches” Saumur-Champigny
A bit of barnyard, fleshy, kirschy very popular but to me a little riper than I want my Saumur. I usually like Lambert - unsure if maybe the vintage. B-

Figs from neighbors’ tree, a goat “camembert”, and flourless chocolate cake with raspberries,

Monday no wine with green puttanesca

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

1999 was such a great year for Felsina.

I loved the CC on release, and also quite enjoyed the Rancia, but long gone.

I still have a bottle of the 1999 CC. I know exactly where it is. I also know that I would need a union construction crew to get to it. Oh well.
