WTN: A White & A Red.....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Sep 08, 2025 6:17 pm

Cracked these two last night:
1. United Cllrs of Tekov Just Kids Dry WW (11%-14%; Muscat blend; BlackLamb Wines/Oakland) Marek/UnitedCllrs/Slovakia 2022: Med.gold color w/ loads of tiny bubbles swirling around that persist; some muscattyvery weird earthy/haymow/herbal rather natty/unclean/Kansas outhouse on a hot Summer day bit cat pee/SB rather unpleasant nose; off-dry some muscatty rather bitter fairly earthy/natty/unclean herbal/hay mow bit fecal quite unpleasant flavor; quite an unpleasant Muscat that is far too natty/unclean to be drinkable; quite an unpleasant/bitter muscat; way overpriced when you can get a Kansas outhouse character for free; extra credit if you can find a two-holer. $31.00 (SFW&S)

2. La Colombera LaRomba Dd'OC: Colli Tortonesi Croatina (14%; GuilianaImprts/Boulder) LaColmobera/f.illi Semino/Tortona 2022: Very dark/near black color; strong rich plummy/blackberry/boysenberry/ripe slight earthy some dusty/OV light pencilly oak ripe rather Mourv-like some complex quite attractive nose; bit soft very rich/plummy/blackberry/Mourv-like some toasty/oak bit rough/rustic some Rhonish flavor w/ ample hard tannins; very long very plummy/blackberry some earthy/rough finish that tracks flavor; rather structured w/ fairly hard tannins; much like a Mourv but much more hard/structured; quite a rugged/hard red that needs age; very attractive price at $25.00 (SFW&S)

More tortogriz from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. BlackLamb Imprts is an importer that specializes in natural wines. I've had a lot of dogs from them, so had low expectations. They fully delivered on those expectations and then some. Pretty much undrinkable. So much for Slovakia..at least from BlackLamb.
I like all the LaColombera wines quite a lot. Their two Timorassos are always quite good. This is the first Croatina, a grape usually used for blending w/ Nebb, that I've seen. I was pretty impressed by it. A serious red that needs age.

Hilarious descriptors there!

I agree with Jenise. That wine description is right up there with Robert Parker's comments concerning Tepusquet Vineyards's attempt to produce a cabernet sauvignon on their own. Parker called the result "the vinous equivalent of Liquid Plumr".

From the sound of it you've discovered a wine worthy of the very bottom rank in Stuart Yaniger's Three Stooges wine rating system: Mousie Garner.

Well, Jenise....you have to experience a Kansas outhouse on a hot Summer day to relate. Not altogether bad experience. Especially when the banty rooster shed abuts the back end of the outhouse. An incredible swirl of smells. It's a Kansas thing.
