Tasted these 4 new wines over the Weekend w/ Susan:

More kikklefrat from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Albalonga is a cross between Rieslaner X Muller-Thurgau. Found mostly in the Rheinhessen.
I was a bit disappointed in the Ingrid Groiss GS '24. It had just showed up here in NM & (I was eager to try it. It was much more interesting than the '23 but I found it just a bit too sweet on the palate to be food-friendly. Maybe age will help. Great nose but not on the palate.
Iruai was a winery that was recently written up by Eric Asimov in the NYTimes. It was hard to characterize this wine but I found it quite interesting.

Sadly Wittmann has grafted over or pulled all of their Albalonga. They made a lot of good wines from those grapes. The 1991 Wittmann Albalonga Spätlese is a real joy, even now. The 1994 Wittmann Albalonga TBA is one of the greatest wines I have ever had!
