Over the last couple of evenings I opened two reds from Aeris, the Italian variety project from Rhys.
Both 2018s from Centenial Mountain in Sonoma County, I started with the Nerello Mascalese, and the next evening the Bricco Rosso blend. They were both very pleasant drinks, and went well with the food. What they weren’t was $50 bottles of wine. Served blind I probably would have pegged them as nice $20 bottles.
Granted the folks at Rhys are trying to break new ground, but they seem to be doing it with a golden shovel.
Glad I dropped from the list several years ago.
