We tried these four at out Pig+Fig tasting last week:
1. Eberle CabSauv PasoRobles (13.3%) EberleWnry/PasoRobles 1985: Dark color w/ slight browning; strong toasty/Fr.oak slight blackcurranty/Cab complex oldCab nose; fairly soft some cedary/pencilly/oldRed bit dried out/tired slightly oldCab flavor w/ soft/light tannins; a bit on the tired side but definitely an old Cab that's hanging on for dear life; interesting but not much pleasure offered up.

Kunde CabSauvg SonomaVlly (13%; EB) 1990: Dark color w/ some browning; some earthy bit blackcurranty/Cab light toasty/oak/vanilla some complex oldCab/pencilly/cedary nose; soft light blackcurranty/Cab fairly smooth bit cedary/pencilly/oldRed flavor w/ light tannins; a rather old Cab that speaks of Cab and still has a bit of life in it; clearly on the downside. $14.29

LaurelGlenVnyds TerraRosa CabSauv NapaVlly (12.5%) LaurelGlenVnyds/St.Helena 1990: Dark color w/ some bricking; strong lovely blackcurranty/Cab bit herbal some toasty/smokey/oak fairly complex very attractive nose; lightly tart strong blackcurranty/Cab/mature bit old-timey CA Cab fairly complex fully mature smooth flavor w/ light gentle tannins; no signs of drying out or tired; a lovely fully-mature CA Cab. $9.89

4. Ravenswood PickberryVnyds/SonomaMtn (13.8%; 54% CS/26% Merlot/20% CabFranc) Ravenswood/Sonoma 1990: Very dark color w/ slight bricking; strong toasty/oak/smokey strong blackcurranty/Cab/ripe bit licorice classic Sonoma Cab quite lovely fairly youthful nose; lightly tart strong blackcurranty/Cab/licorice youthful strong vanilla/toasty/Fr.oak slight tannic/dried out flavor w/ modest gentle tannins; still a bit youthful & speaks of Ravenswood winemaking; unlikely to get any better.

1. An interesting lot of older CA Cabs. The Eberle was clearly on its last legs but the other three spoke strongly of mature CA Cab. The LaurelGlen & the Ravenswood were easily the best. I slightly preferred the Ravenswood because it showed more complexity, but the Laurel Glen was in interesting fully-mature old-timey CA Cab.
