Still showing well, raspberry and red cherry, very floral, nice finish. Pretty delicate at this point, but still offering pleasure. B
Friday was a beautiful 4th, and we had a relaxing day puttering around the house, then Betsy made cumin/coriander lamb burgers. American wine of course, so the 1987 Kalin Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. Lovely, a point, black currant and cedar, earthy soil tones, tobacco. Resolved tannins, fresh acids, good length, B+/A-
Then we went across village to friends’s lovely home overlooking the Hudson for the Dobbs Ferry fireworks. American wine again, so carried the 2020 Ultramarine Hirsch Rose. Wow, I should have sold this This is truly bad wine. Sparkling wine with a dollop of pureed asparagus stem and celery. Tart vegetal finish. Other tried and then opted for Mionetto, I went with seltzer - a lot to get this out of my palate. At least fireworks were fun.. Think I’m passing on my UM allocations from now on. C-
