WTN: Fine gold (rose)

by Jenise » Tue Jul 01, 2025 10:54 am

Here's the good side of that massive, crippling freeze that destroyed so many vines in B.C. in January 2024--winemakers are allowed to buy fruit from elsewhere to make wine with, and this is allowing them to experiment with grapes they have never grown or had access to. Orofino's winemaker John Weber was thrilled to get his hands on some Washington state cinsault, and the result is this thrilling little rose. In equivalent American dollars, I only paid $15 for this little gem.

2024 Orofino Vineyards Cinsault Washington Series Few and Far Between Rosé
Pale pearl pink. On the palate it's stony, delicate, precise and bone dry. Outstanding.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Nice one! Cinsault seems like it would inherently make a pretty rosé.

it's one of the major grapes in Provence rose, right?
Too bad about the freeze, but glad some lemonade got made from the lemons!
