MayoFamilyWnry Zinfandel Port RicciVnyd/RRV (19.8% OV/unfltrd; 100 cs; Drk: 2000-2020) Henry&Diane Mayo/GlenEllen; Winemaker: Chris Stanton 1999: Dark brown very murky color; fairly oxidized very raisened/pruney rather alcoholic slight ripe/Zin fruit nose; somewhat sweet rather raisened/pruney/bit Zin rather alcoholic somewhat tired/oxidized flavor w/ little tannins; long alcoholic finish that tracks flavor; a Port that has not stood the test of time. $30.00/hlf (BB/SR)

1. Mayo, founded in 1993, is still in business & still making a Zin Port. The wines suggests it was merely a Late Hrvst Zin that was fortified w/ pure ethanol. It shows no signs of higher alcohols that you'd get in a more traditional Port. It was not a bad dessert wine but just not very interesting.
