To give its full name: Masi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Serègo Alighieri Vaio Armaron. Apparently this vineyard was acquired by Pietro, son of Dante Alighieri, in 1353. Pop and pour. Just seems a little shy of peak drinking as there was still a bit of tannin, but that was completely appropriate to go with the hearty wild boar pasta. Rich, sweet plummy fruit. A little bit of dark chocolate/coffee. Well balanced so that the usual high abv of Amarone didn't give off any heat. Good length. Excellent
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
