More lickerticker from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. This is the new wnry of Eric Bauer & Shun Ishikubo. They both worked at Ridge MonteBello where Eric was the head winemaker. They both left Ridge to work for Bob Foley making NapaVlly Cabs. Musta been a pretty boring job. After two vintages, they both returned to the SCM & founded their winery sourcing their grapes from a variety, not strictly SCM, of fruit sources.
The Tzabaco Rancho vnyd is a new one to me. A DCVlly grower of 7 varieties that sells to a number of different wineries. I was mpressed by the Zin.
I was mostly impressed by the GB. Not a lot of up-front GB fruit and more subtle than most
I was not quite sure what to expect of Eric's wines. I was expecting a reprise of what he did at MonteBello. They had little resemblance to his MonteBello efforts. The four wines were stylistic distinct & not obviously crafted by the same winemaker. But the ultimatel takeaway was that these wines had an obvious & talented winemaking effort behind them. Clearly a wnry I will continue to follow (from the very start).
