WTN: Put on your Saering Shoes

• 2016 Dirler-Cade Riesling Saering - France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru (6/18/2025)
  I am not even sure how to describe this wine other than it hit me like a bolt out of the blue. Electric acidity, crisp fruit, and a long, mouthwatering finish make for a Riesling that typifies the best of Alsace. It presents as dry and fruity, the finishing zip leaving a clean, mineral water and peach skin tone that effortlessly sustains like a final note in a hymn.

Sounds great. Is that a vineyard or a bottling?

2016 is one of those inbetween vintages at the moment in many European regions, tough to predict, but glad this was singing.

It’s a vineyard. I don’t know a lot about 2016 in Alsace, but this was amazing.

Sounds good. One of these days I'll get back into Alsatian riesling. It's on the short/long list and I hear good things about Dirler-Cadé. Astor carries a bunch and has grand cru rieslings Spiegel and Kessler from 2018, but I might wait for another vintage...
