No wine Monday with shrimp puttanesca on pasta
Tuesday was oysters followed by Bobby Flay chicken breast with a serrano/mint/parsley sauce, lemon roasted potatoes, and spinach.
2016 Heritiers du Comte Lafon Vire Clesse
A little matchstick reduction blows off, lovely pear and lemon fruit, apple blossoms, and long chalky finish. Lots of life here, brisk and elegant. B+/A-
2022 Domaine des Billards (Barbet) St Amour
Red cherry, plum, and cranberry, ripe with noticeable tannins, this is a rather burly and ripe St Amour, and maybe a bit more than I want at moment. But having watched other ripe vintages like 2009 and 2015 progress, I feel pretty good about putting this away for a bit. B- for drinking now, expect improvement.
Teriyaki salmon, mushrooms, rice and broccolini
2022 Clos Cibonne Tradition Rose
Lean savory rose, blood orange and herbs, different and very food friendly. B+
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
