  • 2013 Ceritas Cabernet Sauvignon Peter Martin Ray Vineyard - USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains (5/27/2025)
From my late father’s cellar - this was a wine that dad and I both bought, so it made sense to check in, especially since my last taste was in 2019.

Honestly, when I first opened it last night I wasn’t impressed. It seemed tart/sour, though there was good material in the background. I decided to put a stopper in it, and put it back in the wine cellar for the night.

Tonight, once it came to temp, it was a different story. Still on the bright side, the fruit, earth, and cured tobacco elements had knitted together to blanket the acidity. The more I lingered over the glass, the deeper the fruit and earth became. Essentially no trace of elevage in the wine, just pure Cabernet Sauvignon. Seems like there’s 10, 20, or more years of development potential, so check back with me in 2035.

It's probably more a reflection of my mental state these days, but I opened up this thread prepared to read about a dead wine.

I was trying to make it into an anagram of Littorai.
But wine sounds good!

Hmm…now there’s a thought. Anagram thread titles.
