WTN: The Enz Justifies the Means

by David M. Bueker » Sat May 24, 2025 7:43 pm

  • 2018 Dirty and Rowdy Mourvèdre Old Vine Enz Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Lime Kiln Valley (5/24/2025)
I am swiftly running out of D&R Enz Mourvèdre. Only four bottles left, and really three as this one is largely gone. It’s leaving great memories though, as the fruit is still fresh, and the underlying complexity is almost too much to comprehend. It’s a kaleidoscopic mix of herbs, spices, and earth - anchored to the meaty core of Mourvèdre that drives the song, like Phil Lesh’s bass line that announces The Other One. The weight of that core is still ethereal. Power without heaviness. That is the magic of D&R Mourvèdre, and with Enz it’s nearly the apotheosis.
