- 2019 Coudert Fleurie Clos de la Roilette - France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie (5/23/2025)
I was unimpressed with my first bottle a few years ago. I opened one tonight and found it completely undrinkable. Hot, and resembling cherry Eau de Vie more than Beaujolais, it was also extremely rough on the palate, as if the distilled spirit was somehow impure. Truly a disgusting result.

Wow, any idea what happened here? They are generally pretty consistent, even if the wines go through awkward periods. But this sounds like worse than awkward.

No clue. I have been through at least 10-12 different vintages of this wine and never had anything like this.

I went through 4 bottles of the 2019 in 2023 and 2024 and every one was very good, with none of the symptoms you described. Perhaps damaged (heat?) in transit?

Cork looked fantastic (no seepage) and there wasn’t anything stewed. Color was also perfect.
I wish I knew.
