How do you know when you have drunk too much wine?

When you switch to tequila!!!

I actually saw about 7 people do this Monday night.

We had consumed all of the Seghesio Zin in the restaurant and switched to Rombauer. What a contrast that was!!! Fortunately, the Rombauer kinda doubled as a dessert wine. Some folks decided tequila was a better option. I did not concur with that opinion.
Cheers!

I'm guessing that was a young crowd. The recuperative powers, at least mine did, fade somewhat as you age. If I did that, I probably wouldn't be able to get out of bed the next day! Tom V

I did the wine-then-tequila thing once, and learned my lesson. Surprisingly (or not), the aforementioned event also occurred in Pittsburgh...

And that guess would be incorrect. Average age at least 45. Of course, I don't know your age so maybe that is young!

Oh, and I forgot to mention cocktails before dinner in addition to all the wine.
Cheers!

My event wasn't in the 'burgh. What is surprising about yours is that they have tequila in Pittsburgh. Thought beer and rye whiskey was all that was needed.
Cheers!

I've also had enough to drink when the tequila shows up. There is a small group of 10 or 12 that we get together with from time to time(average age late 40's and about half are wine people). Invariably when the non-wine contingent is sufficiently lubed on wine the Tequila shows up on the table. That is usually a signal that I've prbably had enough to drink as well. Time to switch to water and watch the rest make fools of themselves.

When the thoughts don't come so quickly.

Or when my wife says, "Hey, you've drunk too much wine." :P
I can certainly see that you know your wine. Most of the guests who stay here wouldn't know the difference between Bordeaux and Claret.

Well Mike, that's a bit younger than me as I have passed 50, but still well within the age limits of painfully lingering "day after" territory.

I'll hazard another guess, as to the day after, and say there were many heartfelt mea culpas and sincere promises of future moderation made to higher powers in exchange for a cessation of the agony! Tom V

You know you have had too much wine when the thought of Gary B in his VS outfit starts to sound good. That or the toilet becomes too close a companion.
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?

When I enter into deep conversation with my liver:

"You're being abusive!"

"No, I'm not. This is really excellent wine."

"I don't care if it's Dom! Cut it out!"
