1996 Bodegas Alejandro Fernández Ribera del Duero Tinto Pesquera - hadn't had a bottle of this in some time, so decided to open one for our weekly 'stek Friday' dinner when I fire up the BBQ. It turned out quite well - the colour has lightened at the edges now, so slight bricking, it had a nose of dark berries and also some tobacco hints (and no, I hadn't yet lit my evening cigar) and some earthy hints. Medium long smooth finish. All in all a very good showing and the wine has managed not to skyrocket in price as so many old favourites have.
