We tasted these two Sicilian wines at our Pig+Fig tasting last week:
1, Aeris EtnaBianco Superiore/Sicily (12%; 100% Carricante; RhysVnyds/LosGatos) Vigneri Milo 2020: Med.yellow color; strong mineral/stony/chalky some floral/Carri/dandelions slight steely/metallic very terroir-driven nose; rather tart/tangy/bit steely lightly delicate/Carri/floral/dandelions totally dry bit lean/savory flavor; very long minerally finish that follows flavor; a classic Sicilian Carri w/ lots of mineral/stony character. $59.00

2. Aeris Centenari EtnaRosso/Sicily (13.5%; 100% Nerello Mascalese; 100 yr old vines) 2019: Very dark color w/ slight bricking; very strong earthy/dusty/OV/bit loamy strong pungent/floral/licorice Nerello some rustic light pencilly/oak nose; bit soft some mineral/steely some earthy/dusty/OV bit coarse/rustic lightly floral/licorice/blackberry/Nerello slight pencilly/oak flavor w/ modest brisk tannins; very long rustic/coarse finish that tracks flavor; a bit rustic/coarse but lots of floral character for Nerello; still needs more age. $79.00

1. The Aeris wines are made by Kevin Harvey/Rhys w/ another Sicilian winemaker & bttld under his label. They are typically interesting wines but general on the pricey side for Sicily. I liked both of these wines...very terroir-driven.
