- 2004 Markus Molitor Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (3/4/2025)
One of those days where I went to the wine cellar zero plan. Grabbed this, and figured checking in on a 20+ year old Kabinett was probably a good idea. 2004 Mosels have shown well for me in recent years, and this one was smack in an early maturity drinking window. Light golden color, and a hint of petrochemical product on the nose, to go along with precise but strangely faint apple and lemon cream notes. Definitely not turned up to eleven! On the palate it was again a correct wine, but lacked a sense of depth that I have gotten from the 2004 Selbach Kabinetts from the same site. Certainly recognizable and reasonably enjoyable for what it was, but not anything to tun heads.
